What a joy it is to welcome everyone to the first Arizona Distance Classic in beautiful Oro Valley, Arizona.

This event has been in the planning stages for over two years, with John Bingham Racing leading the way, or as John himself might put it, "waddling" the way. But no matter what your gait or running style is, you're sure to find yourself in friendly and beautiful surroundings as you participate in this signature event.

Throughout the planning period, the organizers of the Arizona Distance Classic have demonstrated their commitment to making this a true community activity by involving a wide variety of local partners. Therefore, I salute all of the partners who have come together to make such an exciting day.

Whether you are participating in the half-marathon, the 5-kilometer race, the Senior Stroll, or just cheering on the runners and walkers, I know that you will be as happy as I am to welcome the Arizona Distance Classic to Oro Valley. Best wishes to everyone, and I'll see you all at the Start and Finish line.
