John Bingham

John has been the national spokesperson for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team in Training program since 2000. He speaks at nine of the Team's largest events including Rock 'n' Roll Arizona, The Country Music Marathon and Half Marathon, the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon in San Diego, The Mayor's Midnight Sun Marathon and Half Marathon in Anchorage, the Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon in Virginia Beach, and the Honolulu Marathon, among others.

John has been called the Pied Piper of the second running boom—and for good reason. Since his column, "The Chronicles," started in Runner's World magazine in 1996, John has become one of the running community's most popular and recognized personalities.

Through his books and his Runner's World column, Bingham has inspired a generation of new runners to find joy in walking, running and racing. His transformation from a life of "sedentary confinement" to marathoner has become a model for people of all ages and abilities. Once an overweight couch potato, he looked mid-life in the face-and got moving. Since then, he has participated in more than 45 marathons and hundreds of 5K and 10K races.

John is the chairman and founder of John Bingham Racing.

Arizona Distance Classic now benefits Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

JULY 2006—The 2007 Arizona Distance Classic will now benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education, and patient services. The Society's mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

"I have been the national spokesperson for Team in Training since 2000, attended over 50 Team in Training events and have witnessed first hand the spectacular results the fund-raising has had on research, treatment, and patient services for people with blood related cancers", stated John Bingham, Founder of John Bingham Racing. "I wanted to do more to help! I knew that I had a unique opportunity with the Arizona Distance Classic making it a non profit event benefiting the Leukemia & Lymphoma society."

2007 will mark the 3rd annual running of the Arizona Distance Classic, comprised of the Valley of Gold Half Marathon, Northwest Medical Center Oro Valley 5K and Splendido Senior Stroll. Situated in Oro Valley (7 miles outside of Tucson) the Arizona Distance Classic is the perfect Spring Break getaway.
