The Angola Project 2010

The Angola Project

The Angola Project is the collaborative effort of students and adults in Tucson, AZ working together to build a school in Angola. We are raising money for RISE International, an organization which works to rebuild lives and communities by partnering with Angolan churches, community leaders, and government officials to build primary schools in rural Angola, bringing the opportunity to receive an education to thousands of children. RISE embraced a dream to impact Angola through education — one child, one classroom, one school at a time.

Last year $14,000 was raised! This money was combined with funds from 5 other high schools and now a school is being built in Caala, Angola! Over 600 kids who have never had a school will be able to attend as soon as it is finished in November, 2010.

But our work is not done! There are still over 4 million children in Angola who do not have a school to attend.

This year, the students at Ironwood Ridge and Canyon Del Oro High Schools in Tucson, along with support from other schools, churches, and members of the community, are working together to raise funds to send more children to school. Education is the key component in breaking the cycle of poverty and despair — and our efforts will make a difference!
